In the age of Facebook and camera phones, our happiest memories are easily captured, shared and stored online.

But physical photographs taken before the rise of the internet are often among people's most treasured possessions.

That is why police are appealing for the public's help to return a box of photographic slides, found in Northwood, to its owner.

Officers from the Northwood Safer Neighbourhoods team found the box, containing around 100 slides, near Green Lane in January.

Police want to hear from anyone who recognises the youngsters in these images

The pictures show youngsters enjoying a family or school boating trip, and are believed to have been taken during the 1970s.

PS Alison Fanton said: "It would be really nice to get these pictures back to their rightful owners.

"The box contains about 100 slides, and by the clothes worn by those in the photos, they were probably taken in the 1970s."

Anyone who recognises anyone in the pictures, or who can help, should email alison.fanton@met.police.uk.
