Strong gusts of up to 50mph across London have sparked a yellow weather warning from the Met Office.

The gale force winds are expected to affect many parts of the country throughout Tuesday (June 6).

Forecasters predict high winds of 40 to 50mph with some isolated blasts of 60mph over coasts, hills and inland areas where heavy rain is also predicted.

Disruption to travel can be expected with with the chance of some trees being uprooted.

A fallen tree on the Central Line track between Ealing Broadway and West Ruislip caused disruption during the morning rush hour as services were temporarily suspended.

The yellow warning of wind is in place for Greater London and South East England until around 10pm.

The strongest of winds will affect Wales and southern and western England before spreading to the Midlands.
