A teenage boy is fighting for his life after he was stabbed in Hayes.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed officers were called at 10.24pm on Tuesday (June 13) to reports of a number of men armed with knives in Yeading Lane.

Officers and paramedics from London Ambulance Service attended the scene and after searching the area they discovered the 17-year-old boy with stab injuries in Dunedin Way.

A spokesman for The Met said: "He was taken to a central London hospital in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries."

Detective Inspector Claire Hine from Hillingdon CID said: "This is a serious incident that has left a young man fighting for his life.

"We are anxious to trace any potential witnesses as soon as possible so they can help us piece together what happened.

"If you know anything please contact us."

An 18-year-old man, who took himself to hospital with minor stab injuries, has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with the incident and remains in custody.
