This year marks 100 years since the outbreak of the First World War and communities across West London will be holding commemorative services and other events, as communities gather to pay their respects to war heroes dead or alive.
It is important we pledge never to forget the incredible sacrifice in the years to come. Future generations must recognise the courage shown by the armed forces in all the wars of the 20th and 21st century. That responsibility is on our shoulders.
While there are still survivors of the Second World War, we have a constant reminder. The fear is that when that generation passes, we will have no reason to honour the tragic events.
Remembering the terrible circumstances of war can be a good way to prevent further tragedies occurring. The harrowing stories and sheer number of casualties experienced in the two world wars must surely be a deterrent.
We must never forget the fallen, their courage and sacrifice. With that in mind, we would like to hear from anyone with experience of or a connection to the First World War.
