A world-renowned tennis coach came to Ealing to officially open the new tennis courts at the Brentham Club.

Louis Cayer, whose previous clients include both Andy and Jamie Murray, came to the club off Pitshanger Lane for the big launch, offering a coaching session to the young enthusiasts present.

Ealing Central & Acton MP Rupa Huq, who was also present for the ceremony, said: "It’s great to be at the Brentham Club today, just round the corner from where I grew up in Brunswick Road.

"It was here that British tennis legend Fred Perry learned to play tennis. When he moved to Ealing from the industrial north he described Ealing and Pitshanger as paradise on earth.

"It was great to see Louis in action with the kids of today’s Ealing. Let’s hope that they can follow in the foosteps of Andy Murray and Fred Perry to soon be playing tennis, not just at the Brentham club but also on the world stage."

The hi-tech courts were constructed by Chiltern Sports Contractors and funded by the Lawn Tennis Association and Handelsbanken, Brentham’s bankers.

The new courts feature the renowned TIGER TURF a “state-of-the-art” surface that is new to the Ealing area. Its bounce and speed is similar to grass and is much sought-after by top tennis players.
