Work has begun on refurbishing Paddington Recreation Ground following a £700,000 investment.

It will benefit from a new and extended fitness suite, new changing rooms and new public toilets as well as an extended outside seating area.

It is expected to take 12 weeks to complete.

The cash boost comes from Everyone Active, which operates the sports centre in Randolph Avenue, Maida Vale , in partnership with Westminster City Council.

“It has always been important for us to offer the community great provision of health and fitness facilities,” says Everyone Active general manager, Ashton Rennie.

“These refurbishments mean that we’re able to provide even more opportunity for people to get healthier and more active.”

The work is being phased to minimise disruption for users.

Phase one will include refurbishment of the gym in the west wing, which will be kitted out with the latest cardio and resistance Technogym equipment.

Phase two will see upgrades being completed for a new entrance, a complete refurbishment of the changing rooms and a new reception area. There are also plans for increased external seating for local dog walkers that wish to use the café.

Finally, the gym in the east wing will also be extended and fitted with the latest equipment.

Members will be also to use other Everyone Active facilities within Westminster while the refurbishment takes place.
