A woman has been badly hurt at Hammersmith Underground station after she tripped on a platform and was struck by a train.
Transport for London (TfL) said it was investigating the incident, which saw the station shut to customers between 5.10pm and 5.31pm, but British Transport Police (BTP) has says it is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
Other commuters who witnessed the incident took to social media to express their concern and horror.
The incident had an impact on the Tube network, with severe delays reported on the Piccadilly line westbound.
Emergency services were called to the scene, with reports that London’s Air Ambulance also attended.
TfL said a woman had tripped on a platform, while BTP told getwestlondon : “A woman in her 60s fell and was struck by a train.
“At this moment it is being treated as non-suspicious, but she has very serious injuries.”
One woman at Hammersmith station tweeted that the woman was “deeply injured”, while another wrote: “The situation at on the platform Hammersmith station earlier didn’t look good. Lots of police and paramedics. Person didn’t look good.”
