A man has been arrested for attempted murder after four women were stabbed at a supermarket in Hampton, near Twickenham .

One woman has been rushed to hospital in serious condition, following the incident reported to be in the Sainsbury’s car park on Friday (May 20) morning.

Police said they were called at around 10.35am to The Avenue in Hampton, in the Richmond and Twickenham area, following reports of a man in possession of a knife.

Officers found three women at the scene suffering from knife wounds, the Metropolitan Police said.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service also attended and treated three women with non-life threatening conditions.

However, a fourth woman is believed to suffering from life-threatening knife wounds and was found at a nearby property. She has been taken to hospital.

This month, also saw the mother of murdered teenager Jamil Palmer issue an emotional plea on the anniversary of when her son was stabbed to death in Crane Park, Hanworth.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “Officers attended and discovered three women [ages unknown] suffering from knife wounds.

“The London Ambulance Service also attended and are providing treatment to the women.

“Their conditions are not thought to be life-threatening or changing at this time.

“A fourth woman who had also suffered knife wounds was subsequently located at a nearby property.

"She has been taken to hospital where her condition at this stage is thought to be life-threatening.”

The Met Police said at this early stage ‘the incident is not believe to be terror-related.’

A man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is currently in custody at a south-west London police station.

A Taser was deployed during the arrest but was not discharged.

Police enquiries are ongoing.

Meanwhile, police have issued an arrest warrant for Hanworth teenager, Sahal Farhaan, following a knifepoint robbery in a Hampton park.

Earlier this week, police in Hounslow asked for the public to help identify suspects wanted for questioning from CCTV footage.
