A woman was rushed to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest on a busy road in Hounslow.

Police and paramedics were called to Staines Road, just outside Hounslow town centre, on Monday (April 4) afternoon, shortly before 4.30pm, to reports of a collision between two cars.

The London Ambulance Service said it treated a woman in cardiac arrest, who was taken to hospital as a priority.

The collision, at the junction with Hospital Road, near Halfords, caused major delays in the area.

Hounslow police tweeted at 4.50pm that Staines Road was closed between Cromwell Road and Steve Biko Way. They advised drivers to avoid the area.

Transport for London said bus routes 116, 117, 235, 237 and 423 were all subject to delays and diversion following the incident.

Road closures remained in place at 7pm.

An LAS spokesman said: "We were called at 4.26pm to reports of a road traffic collision at (the junction of) Staines Road and Hospital Road in Hounslow.

"We sent a number of resources to the scene including an advanced paramedic and an incident officer to the scene and arrived within seven and a half minutes.
