A Neasden resident was ordered to pay more than £1,000 for dumping the rubbish in her own garden after neighbours reporting the pile up.

Regina Sally Fernandes was sentenced at Willesden Magistrates court on April 19 after members of the public complained of mattresses, rubble, an old boiler and other rubbish left outside the house.

Brent Council waste enforcement investigated the property before the case was taken further and also found tables, a wheelbarrow and ladders.

Fernandes was eventually fined £1,123.50 by the courts.

Cabinet member for the environment Eleanor Southwood said:“Most residents in Brent ‘Love where they live’ and make an effort to keep their streets and land clean and green.

"That’s why it’s completely unacceptable when neighbours do not clear up large amounts of waste outside their properties.

"It brings down the appearance of the area and everyone suffers."

Residents are urged to report rubbish using the council's new Cleaner Brent app

Ms Southwood urged residents to report untidy land, littering or illegally dumped rubbish using the "Cleaner Brent" app .

Dennis Lewis, Enviro-Crime Manager, Brent Council added: “We will investigate complaints of untidy land, littering or illegally dumped rubbish and will take all necessary measures to investigate the incidents and will not hesitate to prosecute the offenders.”
