District Line services between Wimbledon and Parsons Green are "running normally" on Wednesday morning (November 9) following two days of disruption, TfL confirmed.

Services were suspended at around 6am on Monday (November 6) after a South Western Railway (SWR) train came off the tracks outside Wimbledon station.

District Line services remained suspended throughout Tuesday (November 7) as TfL worked to fix the derailment.

A TfL spokesman said: "We are still trying to fix the derailment this morning. Once that is done we can launch an investigation into why it happened."

On Tuesday evening it was still unclear whether District Line disruption would continue through to Wednesday.

But on Wednesday morning TfL confirmed District Line services were restored.

It tweeted: "Work has been completed on the District Line between Wimbledon and Parsons Green and services are now running normally. Thanks for your patience."

There were delays to SWR main line services until around 3.30pm, despite lines reopening at around midday.

SWR's head of customer experience Christian Neill said: "I am very sorry for the disruption many of you would have likely experienced while travelling on our network today (Monday) following the low-speed derailment of one our trains near Wimbledon."

The Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) has launched an investigation into what caused the derailment.
