Three women arrested as part of the armed police counter-terrorism raid in Willesden have been released without charge.

They were arrested as part of an investigation by the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command following an operation at Harlesden Road on April 27.

The two 18-year-olds and one 19-year-old were arrested in East London on May 1 , and released on Tuesday (May 9).

The raid on the property took place hours after police tackled a man in Whitehall, Westminster.

One woman, aged 21, was shot by police but arrested after she was discharged from hospital.

She is one of three women who were arrested as part of the investigation who remain in custody. They are:

  • The 21-year-old, arrested on April 30 after being discharged from hospital
  • A 20-year-old arrested April 27 at an address in Harlesden Road
  • A 43-year-old arrested April 27 in Kent

All were arrested on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of terrorist acts and detained under section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

Warrants of further detention, for up to a further seven days, were granted on Thursday, 4 May at Westminster Magistrates’ Court whilst enquiries continue.

Two men, aged 21 and 28, and a 16-year-old boy, all arrested on April 27 either in or close to the Harlesden Road address, have now been released without charge.

Officers have completed the searches of all the addresses connected with the arrests.
