Firefighters rescued a man from a burning property at a block of flats in Willesden .

The occupant of the flat was taken to hospital after being treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.

Part of the flat on the sixth floor was damaged during the blaze on Monday.

Four fire engines with 21 firefighters and officers were called at 9.21am to the scene of the blaze in Harlesden Road.

It took crews just over an hour to tackle the blaze, which was confirmed as "under control" at 10.30am.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "One man was rescued by crews wearing breathing apparatus.

"He was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation before being taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.

"Fire crews from Willesden, Park Royal, Wembley and North Kensington fire stations attended the scene.

"The cause of the fire is under investigation."
