The candidate for the UK Independence Party Peter Whittle was born in London and stood for Parliament in Eltham in 2015.

Now, as mayoral candidate for the party in the May elections, he has promised to tackle what he feels no other parties are talking about.

Here are six things UKIP wants to change about London, according to its manifesto.

1. Long term London residents to benefit from housing plans

UKIP has pledged that those who have lived in London for five years or more will get the opportunity to buy houses on Greater London Authority owned land.

2. Reduce translation services

The party has said that should it win the vote for City Hall, it will reduce translation services so city residents will be prompted to integrate.

3. Australian-style points system introduced

Peter Whittle will be campaigning for an Australian style point system to be introduced, which UKIB believes will reduce the pressure on London's housing market.

4. Support further use of 'stop and search' to tackle youth crime

As part of its manifesto, London's UKIP candidates want to increase the use of stop and search which combines with their youth crime programme to reduce the number of gang related crimes.

5. Campaign to leave the EU

Peter Whittle will be backing groups who are campaigning to leave the EU in the lead up to the June referundum.

6. Review communities getting 'squeezed out' by redevelopment plans

After a visit to south Acton, the mayoral hopeful pledged to look at the plight of residents who are being offered less than market value for their homes by the council as new developments take place.

He said: "The pressure for local residents here to sell their homes at less than market value is only exacerbating this ongoing problem" and calls on councils and developers concerned to include the current residents."
