Police are in the process of lifting the closure of Westminster Bridge, after being called to the scene at just before 6pm on Thursday (May 25).

Upon arrival, police found an "unattended vehicle", which they have now "deemed non-suspicious" according to a spokesman from the Metropolitan Police.

A police cordon was in place

Transport for London posted on Twitter, saying: "The A302 Westminster Bridge closed in both directions due to an incident.

"Westminster Bridge r/abt closed W/B. Parliament Square eastbound."
