A West London student has hit the jackPot by being the crowned the first official ‘Pot Noodle Scholar’.

John Moore from Hanwell, who is studying at the University of London will have his tuition fees paid for a year and a party thrown in his honour, all in return for being a brand ambassador for the popular snack.

Mr Moore will also receive Pot Noodle-branded t-shirts, trainers, bed sheets and bus pass holders.

The noodle franchise launched the nationwide scholarship search in September, calling for students to submit their entry via Facebook. From a shortlist of the 20 best entries, the public voted for their favourite, whittling the number down to 10 fraternity members. Mr Moore then battled it out against the other fraternity members to be chosen for the legendary scholar status.

He made a video, which sees him on a frantic mission to reclaim the last ever Pot Noodle before waking to realise it was just a horrible nightmare.

Mr Moore and nine other runners-up will also receive cash prizes for completing a number of themed challenges on campus.

He said: "Student life isn't always easy, juggling study with part-time work can be tough, especially with university fees rising. Not only will this prize actually make a real difference to my life, I get to complete some insane tasks, have a laugh and become a campus legend with it.”

Karl Roche, Pot Noodle brand manager, said: “We were extremely impressed and entertained by the calibre of quirky competition entries, but there could only be one winner.

“John has proven to be the perfect Pot Noodle Scholar and we have every faith he is the right man for the job. Not only is he is a clear leader but he also has a great sense of humour and quirky personality, which is very much aligned with the brand.”
