Londoners are being warned to expect ice on their morning commute on Monday (December 11).

The Met Office has issued a yellow severe weather warning for the capital and parts of the south east between 4am and 11am.

Snow is also possible in areas surrounding London, although it is unlikely to settle.

A statement from the agency said: "Some injuries are possible from slips and falls on icy surfaces and there will probably be some icy patches on untreated roads and cycle paths."

The warning follows a day of poor weather and transport disruption, including delays to flights at Heathrow Airport.

Hillingdon Police urged residents to stay at home on Sunday (December 10) due to "impassable" roads.

The Met Office warned people travelling on Monday morning to expect "longer and more difficult journeys" on some routes.
