Wembley Park is hosting a spectacular firework display to celebrate bonfire night in Brent on Saturday (November 4) night.

Families from across the borough are expected to attend to the children-friendly event at Brent Civic Centre, which is free and open to all.

But visitors have been warned to plan their journey ahead as urgent roadworks in Wembley High Road are likely to cause disruption to those trying to get to the display.

Deep excavation to fix a blocked sewer near the junction of Ecclestone Place will start on Thursday (November 2) and continue until November 30.

Wembley High Road will be closed to eastbound traffic from the junction of Park Lane for the duration of the works.

A signed diversion will be in place during this period and traffic will be redirected via Park Lane and Wembley Hill Road.

While westbound traffic will continue to use Wembley High Road as normal, Brent Council has advised drivers to avoid the area.

A spokesman said: "The impact to the road network in the Wembley area is expected to be severe, especially in peak times.

"Where possible please avoid the area."

People travelling to the fireworks on Saturday are advised to use public transport and plan their journey ahead in order to avoid disruption and delays.
