A Wembley mum who stashed guns in her family home after being offered cash to look after them has had her sentence increased by two years.

Tawana Blake of Ealing Road, was sentenced at the Old Bailey on December 22 with six and a half years in prison after being found guilty of conspiracy to transfer a prohibited weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition and possession of Class A drugs.

However, an appeal application was put in after the Attorney General's office felt the sentence of six years was too lenient.

After a case at the Court of Appeal on February 28, Blake's sentence was extended to eight and a half years.

Covert operation busted a trio transferring guns and ammunition

The 32-year-old was arrested and charged on January 21 after Trident North Proactive officers covertly observed a youth during the operation.

The youth in question went into Blake's house and came out with a large holdall which contained a pump-action shotgun and 24 shotgun cartridges.

Officers searched Blake's home and found a loaded revolver and cocaine.

Detective Inspector James Newcome, from the Trident North Proactive unit, said at the time: "My unit are determined to take these lethal guns off the streets of London and I am delighted that these three people are now behind bars.

"The storing and moving of a deadly weapon is a serious criminal offence and the consequences are severe.

"I sincerely hope this sentence will deter others from similar offending and think twice before getting involved."

The 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was jailed for four and a half years for possession of a shotgun.

Blake and the teenager were originally sentenced at the Old Bailey on Thursday, December 22, along with 43-year-old Robert Hewitt, of Connaught Road in Harlesden , who was jailed for 11 years.

Hewitt was found guilty of conspiracy to transfer a prohibited weapon.
