The 34-year-old man stabbed to death in Wealdstone suffered the fatal injuries opposite a police station which recently closed down.

Police were called to the Halifax bank in High Street at around 6.50pm on Monday evening (February 27) when the road would have been busy with commuters during rush hour.

The incident happened directly opposite the former police station in Wealdstone High Street which was closed in recent years.

This is also the second stabbing in Wealdstone High Street in the last six months.

In August last year, a man in his 40s was stabbed in the hand during a fight in broad daylight.

Wealdstone High Street was closed off to the public well into Tuesday morning (February 28) after the attack.

The victim was rushed to hospital in a critical condition but passed away in the early hours of the morning.

There have been no arrests but Metropolitan Police officers say enquiries are ongoing.

Officers said that the area would have been very busy with people coming from nearby Harrow and Wealdstone station.

Plans to close the police station were revealed in 2011 when the Met agreed in principle to selling the site.

In 2013, MP for the area Gareth Thomas launched a petition in an attempt to convince the Met not to sell up , but the effort failed and the station later closed.

Witnesses or anyone with information on the fatal incident are urged to call police on 020 8358 0200 or calling 101.

The police can also be contacted through Twitter by tweeting @MetCC or witnesses can pass information anonymously to Crimestoppers via 0800 555 111.
