Rumours surrounding the future of Wealdstone FC ground in Ruislip ground has lead the club to responded saying negotiations with the landlord are ongoing.

The club's lease for Grosvenor Vale ends in late 2018 and concerns over the future of the ground were raised by fans, including speculation that the land would be redeveloped.

There have been concerns raised about the fate of Wealdstone Youth FC who also use the ground.

A statement from the club said: “It is well known that the current lease at Grosvenor Vale is due to expire in late 2018.

“The club is currently in very positive negotiations with the landlords but it is too early to speculate on any specific changes to the makeup of the existing lease.

“We will continue to keep everyone updated as matters become further clarified, but we are confident that the lease will be renewed.”

Wealdstone moved to the ground in 2008 after the previous occupants, Ruislip Manor FC, folded because of financial problems, leaving the stadium empty.

Prior to the move, Wealdstone had played at Northwood's Chestnut Avenue ground which they shared with Northwood FC.

Cllr Douglas Mills from Hillingdon Council, said: "Manor ward councillors fully support Wealdstone's desire to renew their existing lease and would remind everyone that we have already successfully amended Hillingdon's planning policy to ensure that the Grosvenor Vale site must continue to be used solely for sport and recreational purposes."

While Wealdstone FC say they are confident a new lease will be agreed, there have been fears raised online that the youth side will lose their home.

The fate of Wealdstone Youth FC is still unclear and getwestlondon has approached the team's management for comment.
