Police investigating reports of attempted pick pocketing in Harrow have urged shoppers to be vigilant while out in the town.

Officers are appealing for the two shoppers - believed to be victims of attempted pick pocketing - to get in touch to assist with enquiries.

The first incident is said to have occurred in WHSmiths, in St Ann's Shopping Centre, on February 4 at around 3.10pm when a man tried to steal a purse which was hanging on a pushchair. The female victim screamed and the man ran off.

The second incident occurred in TK Maxx, at St George's Shopping Centre, on Saturday (February 7) at around 5.10pm. A woman was trying on a dressing gown and had hung her handbag on a clothes rail when a man tried to take a purse from the bag. He ran off, chased by a security officer, when she screamed.

Shoppers were reminded to remain vigilant while out and about and were advised not to leave bags or purses unattended and to keep personal belongings secured and close at all times.
