Rather than chase down a suspect on foot or with lights flashing in a police car, one officer in Hounslow opted for a more traditional method.

Jumping onto a bike offered to them by a member of the public, an officer pedalled across a park in the borough in pursuit of the suspect.

A video released by Hounslow Police shows the view from behind the handlebars as the officer chased down the individual on Tuesday (October 3), before detaining them.

Posting on Facebook on Tuesday evening, Hounslow Police wrote: "Sir Bradley Wiggins has nothing on Response Team C after a kind member of public offered their bike to an officer so that he could catch up with an offender who had it on his toes through a park.

"Teamwork definitely makes the dream work as the suspect was detained by Police and locked up."

The bicycle was offered to the officer by a member of the public

Police say due to the nature of the arrest, they are unable to release any further information.
