Southern Rail says disruption to the service is expected until midday after flooding caused platform 10 to be closed.

Disruption to metro service

Southern Rail have listed disruption to the Metro service because of the closure of platform 10.

A statement said: “Some disruption is owing to heavy rainfall and for safety reasons Network Rail has advised us that until further notice platform 10 at London Victoria will be closed.”

Reports of delays first appeared at 6.30am

National Rail tweeted shortly after 6.30am to announce that Southern trains were not running from platform 10 because of “severe weather.”

Commuters warned to avoid underground

People travelling through Victoria Station are warning commuters to avoid the underground because of the queues after flooding has closed a platform.

Disruption expected until midday

The flooding at Victoria Station from heavy rainfall has caused some lines to be blocked.

According to Southern Rail services running to and from the station may be cancelled or delayed.

Delays are expected until at least midday.

A statement from Southern Rail said: “It is hoped the platform will be open bu lunch time today. Most of the problems that occur on the rail network are fixed quickly but, particularly on busy routes where trains are tightly scheduled.”
