Staff from the Mandeville Veterinary Hospital and North West London branches of the Goddard Veterinary Group have completed a 24-hour table tennis marathon to raise funds for animal charities Dogs Trust and The Celia Hammond Trust.

Teams from Mandeville, led by head vet Jeremy Stewart and practice manager Adrian Hayter, began the marathon at 3pm on July 10, finishing at the same time the following day.

Twelve staff members took part in 60-minute shifts with many other staff supporting them.

During 'time off' between stints, players were able to enjoy a BBQ, a water slide and badminton in the garden of the Mandeville Veterinary Hospital.

Mr Hayter said: "It was an extraordinary 24 hours. We had our core team of players and we had staff and friends popping in at all times of the day and night to lend their support by joining in the table tennis matches.

"It was such fun and this is what kept us going through the wee small hours.

"We held a raffle for a life-size cat cake baked by one of our nurses. This raised £100 on the day and with donations we're hoping to have raised a decent amount for these two very worthy charities."

"Anyone who wants to support us can still do by visiting http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/team/MVHwhiffwaff or dropping in a donation at the Mandeville."
