Residents of Uxbridge and West Drayton will be relieved to hear that the internet outage affecting many is over one week after it started .

Parts of Hillingdon were hit by a complete internet and phone outage starting in the early hours of Wednesday October 19.

The outage was caused by Network Rail workers who damaged cables used by a number of different communications companies.

BT initially reported the fault was due to be fixed by 10.30am on Thursday, October 20, but instead the problem persisted throughout the weekend.

The BT online fault tracker said the problem was fixed at around 8.50pm on Wednesday (October 26).

BT's online tracker system said: “We've fixed the problem in the West Drayton and Uxbridge areas, so your broadband should now be working.

“It if isn't, try restarting your modem or router.”

Sky internet users have previously been told that compensation will be considered on a case by case basis.

BT customers may also be able claim compensation.

According to the company's customer care guarantee, residents can claim within four months of the fault being fixed and any amounts claimed will be deducted from the next bill, although cheques can be requested.
