London should expect sunny days to be interrupted by heavy showers of rain as two storms bring unsettled weather to the country.

Storms Karl and Lisa are predicted to smash into Britain as a jet stream pushes them in this direction, bringing an end to London's summer sun.

The pair are both in the tropical Atlantic and are forecast to curl up before getting picked up by the jet stream towards Europe.

America’s National Hurricane Centre warned Karl is likely to reach hurricane strength over the next two days before joining forces with Lisa.

Although the Capital can still expect sunny spells this week, Thursday in particular will see it punctuated with dark clouds and rain.

The Met Office said: "Many places remaining dry with bright or sunny intervals, although showers or longer spells of rain will arrive at times.

"Overnight outbreaks of rain will spread east, perhaps becoming locally heavy."

Temperatures are to remain mild at 17 degrees for the most part of the week, with Wednesday even forecast to reach 21 degrees.
