A main road in Isleworth remains closed this morning (Friday) while police investigate the aftermath of a suspected hit-and-run.

Two women believed to be in their twenties were on the crossing in front of Syon Lane rail station in Spur Road at 6.25am.

A spokesman said: "We had been called to reports of a Road Traffic Collision (RTC) in which two pedestrians had been injured.

"It appears the car failed to stop at the scene.

"The victims have been taken to hospital and we are awaiting a condition update."

Traffic was not being allowed up Spur Road from the Busch Corner junction of Twickenham Road and London Road and cars driving into the road from Syon Lane having come up from the Coach and Horses pub near Syon Park, were not able to turn right and drive past the station.

UPDATE:

The road has now fully reopened and traffic is flowing as normal. This includes the H28 bus which runs between Osterley Tesco and Bulls Bridge Tesco and had been diverted due to not being able to use Syon Lane.

A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service confirmed two crews had been sent to the scene and treated the two women.

They were taken as priority cases to St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, however their condition was unknown as was their injuries.

There is still no information about the car involved in the incident
