A police cordon is in place in Twickenham after reports of gun shots fired.

Officers were called shortly before 10.50pm on Tuesday (August 1) to reports of shots heard in Chertsey Road, Whitton .

A crime scene remains in place at Chertsey Road as enquiries continue.

Cordon lifted

Providing an update, a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said:

“Crime scene is no longer in place, no arrests and the victim is still in hospital.”

The condition of the victim is not life-threatening.


London Ambulance Service unable to comment

London Ambulance Service were not able to confirm if they attended the scene or not.

A spokesman said: “We have no record of the incident.”

A whole section of houses have been cordoned off by police, around 20 are believed to be affected.

Police linking man in hospital with gunshot wound with incident

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said:

“Officers attended and found evidence of a discharge of a firearm, but no injured persons.

“Just after 11pm police were alerted to a male having attended a west London hospital suffering a gun shot wound.

“The two incidents are, at this early stage, being treated as linked.

“The Trident and Area Crime Command are investigating.

“A crime scene remains in place at Chertsey Road as enquiries continue.”
