A Tube union has recommended that planned Tube strikes starting from next week are called off, after negotiations with London Underground bosses have 'made good progress'.

Unions announced strikes last week after a failure to come to an agreement with Underground bosses over disputes on pay and the introduction of the Night Tube.

A set of three days of Tube strikes are set to take place from next week, with a 24-hour strike planned for Tuesday (January 26).

According to ASLEF, however, it looks like conciliation talks are coming to an end, and the results are looking positive for London commuters.

In a statement on Wednesday (January 20), train drivers union, ASLEF, said that London Underground management has been brought back to the table thanks to their union members.

Finn Brennan, ASLEF’s organiser for drivers on London Underground, said: “I am pleased to say that we have made good progress in talks at ACAS today.

“The negotiating team is now reporting to the ASLEF executive committee with a recommendation that the planned industrial action be suspended.

“The determination of our members brought London Underground management back to the table.

“We have dragged them kicking and screaming into the 21st century with an agreement to deliver modern, flexible working patterns for our members and an above inflation pay rise.

“This demonstrates just what strong, progressive trade unions can deliver in Britain today.”

The Rail Maritime and Train driver's union (RMT) also provided a Tube strikes talk update yesterday, detailing that a new offer has reportedly been made.

An RMT spokesman said: “RMT officials have been presented with a revised set of proposals by LU in the ACAS talks today which will be considered in detail by the unions executive tomorrow through our normal democratic procedures.”

It is not yet known what the new proposals put forward are, but sources claim more information will be publicly detailed soon.

Unite union recently backed out of the upcoming Tube strikes , in an attempt to resolve the disagreement with LU bosses.
