Commuters faced a struggle to get to work on Wednesday morning after the Waterloo & City line was suspended.

According to a Transport for London (TfL) Twitter account, “a local power failure” led to no service on the entire line on Tuesday night (May 2).

A TfL spokesperson originally said the problem was “ongoing” on Wednesday morning, but the line was then reopened at around 8am.

The Waterloo & City runs a shuttle service between Waterloo station and Bank.

One disgruntled commuter complained he had not been informed of the problem.

Martin Clinton wrote on Twitter: “Why aren’t your drivers telling people waterloo and city line is shut... only found out at top of escalator at bank!”

All other London Underground lines and the Docklands Light Railway were running a good service at the time of writing.

The Waterloo & City line carries as estimated 15 million passengers a year.
