An appeal has been launched after a man was spotted filming up a woman's skirt on the platform of a tube station.

Officers from British Transport Police's (BTP) Sexual Offences Unit have released a CCTV image of a man they are keen to speak to in connection with the incident.

The female was waiting to board a Northern line train at Tottenham Court Road station when a male stood behind her and lowered his phone to below her skirt line, the police appeal states.

BTP wants to speak to this man in relation to the incident

BTP also want to hear from anyone who might have been on the platform and possibly witnessed the "totally unacceptable behaviour."

The incident happened on the London Underground at around 8.15am on Wednesday December 14 2016.

Investigating officer, PC Darren Humphrey, said: “Behaviour such as this is totally unacceptable and it is essential the person responsible is identified quickly.

“I’d be very keen to speak with the man in the CCTV image, as he may have vital information that could help us investigate.

"Likewise, I’d also be keen to hear from anyone who might have been on the platform at this time and witnessed any suspicious activity."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact BTP by simply sending a text to 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40 quoting reference 176 of 13/01/2017.

Alternatively, call Crimstoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
