The terrifying poster mimics Goya's 'Satan Devouring his Son'

A West Kensington joker has a unique message for election canvassers visiting his home.

Mike Gannon, 63, of Sun Road, displayed a poster mimicking Goya's painting Saturn Devouring his Son in the window of his home.

The freelance journalist, who works from home, is exhausted by the coverage of the General Election on TV.

The Fulham FC supporter, who also puts on plays and satirical sketch shows at his local pub theatre, The Curtain's Up in Baron's Court, looks forward to seeing the canvassers' reaction.

He said: “I've had leaflets from other parties but the Labour Party are the only ones who've actually knocked on the door.

“One of them looked a bit doubtful but I think took it in good spirit.”

The poster, which reads 'Come on punks, make my day!', has been displayed in Mr Gannon's ground-floor flat window for over a week.

Mr Gannon was previously a canvasser and so knows that people respond to them in ways that isn't always "welcoming".

He added: “I'm not trying to be serious or nasty it's just a little bit of fun. They may have wondered if I had actually posed for the painting!”
