Fierce winds and torrential downpours caused serious disruption in west London as Storm Katie battered the capital.

A number of roads were closed due to fallen trees or unsafe scaffolding, and there were major delays to buses, trains and Tubes.

Transport for London warned passengers on Easter Monday (March 28) morning to expect "severe delays" due to an earlier obstruction on the track at Oakwood.

South West Trains says services across much of its network have been affected by flooding or fallen trees, and says poor weather conditions are likely to cause disruptions throughout the day.

Unsafe scaffolding meant Putney Bridge was closed to passengers during the morning, and fallen trees blocked a number of roads including Harrow Road, Wembley, and Bedfont Road, Bedfont.

There were also bus diversions in place in Hounslow High Street on Monday morning due to a fire at a restaurant overnight .

Kew Gardens was closed due to high winds and Royal Parks said on Monday morning that Richmond and Bushy Parks had been closed until further notice as a safety precautions.

Forecasters at the Met Office issued a severe weather warning for southern England for Monday morning, with gusts expected to reach 60mph inland.
