A woman was taken to hospital with "serious" after a collision with a bus in Trafalgar Square.

London’s Air Ambulance was spotted on the scene at the busy tourist destination on Tuesday afternoon (November 28).

Metropolitan Police confirmed that a bus had collided with the woman - who sustained serious leg injuries.

Her injuries are not life-threatening, said police.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 2.06pm today to Northumberland Avenue, Westminster , to reports of a road traffic collision.

"We sent a number of resources to the scene including an ambulance crew, a single responder in a car, a cycle responder, an advanced paramedic and an incident response officer. London’s Air Ambulance was also dispatched.

"We treated a woman for a leg injury at the scene and took her to hospital by ambulance."
