Wembley Stadium will once again host Champions League football on Wednesday (November 2) when Tottenham take on German opponents Bayer Leverkusen.

They have played at the stadium once already this season - a 1-0 defeat to Monaco in September - after they were given the go-ahead to play this season’s European home matches at the Venue of Legends.

The club is in the process of building a new stadium next to White Hart Lane, which will soon replace its home of more than 100 years.

But Spurs are still playing domestic football on Seven Sisters Road, so why are they not taking on Europe’s finest there , as they did during their previous Champions League campaign in 2010-11?

Before the start of this season, the last Tottenham play there, the corners of the North and East stands were knocked down, reducing the grounds capacity from 36,000 to just over 31,000.

During their season playing football in Wembley, the club has been keen to take part in community events, such as the My Heart Beats for Brent campaign, which was launched England and Spurs stars Eric Dier and Harry Kane.
