A star-studded line up features in a new 60 second film to tell the world "London is open for summer".

From the world of sport Olympian Tom Daley along with The Great British Bake Off winner Candice Brown and west London schoolchildren take the lead in the Mayor of London's Sadiq Khan's campaign.

Featuring some of the capital's most popular landmarks, footage shows young people from the Stagecoach Performing Arts School enjoying days out at The Shard, London Eye, The Natural History Museum and London Zoo.

Other fun places to visit highlighted in the video include London Transport Museum, Go Ape at Battersea Park and a ride on the Thames Clipper, Sea Life Aquarium and many more.

Among the local stars in the video are Marcello and Meron from Hammersmith and Fulham , Vienna from Northwood , Jayden from Feltham and Eugelyn from Greenford.

Natural History Muesum

The initiative has been supported by a number of other celebrities who have relapsed their own messages in support of the campaign including music mogul Simon Cowell, television star Davina McCall and fashion designer Ozwald Boateng.

From Friday (August 11), a series of illustrative works from Sir Quentin Blake, best known for his artistic creations on Roald Dahl books, will be exhibited across the London Underground network.

Transport for London has teamed up with the campaign displaying illustrations encouraging families to enjoy the sights and shows the capital has to offer at more than 240 tube stations, along with other artists' works.

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan said: “London is one of the most diverse, thrilling and fascinating cities in the world and it captures the imagination of everyone, young and old.

"Sir Quentin Blake’s wonderful illustration brings this spirit to life and shows that London is open to all.

“Our great city is home to so many world-leading museums, galleries, attractions, parks and views – the list is endless – and there really is no greater place to explore over the school holidays.

"I’m saying loud and clear - London is open for business, creativity, ideas and open to everyone this summer.”

Sir Quentin added: “I did a drawing last year for the 'London is Open' evening at the Science Museum, so when I heard that there was an invitation for artists to put forward proposals to publicise the same idea this year, I put everything else aside and did it immediately.”
