Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and found a 49-year-old man suffering from a head injury.

He was taken to an east London hospital and was later discharged.

Beard was arrested on January 13 on suspicion of actual bodily harm.

He was charged with assault by beating on May 12, and first appeared at Thames Magistrates’ Court on May 26.

“Despite initially denying the assault, he had no option but to plead guilty.
