With snow forecast to hit London from tomorrow, January 12, some of commuters and motorists will be worrying about the chaos it may cause travelling.

Others, however may just be getting excited at the thought of running into the back garden and starting snowball fight.

With a yellow severe weather warning for snow in place for Thursday , Londoners, along with much of the UK are bracing themselves for a blanket of the white stuff.

However, before reaching for your hat and gloves, you may want to think twice about throwing snowballs.

Kent Live asked police to explain the laws about snowballs, to find out if it may in fact be illegal.

A police spokesman said: "The main thing to consider is the circumstance.

"Throwing snowballs in general is not a crime, but if snowballs are thrown which cause injury or permanent damage then that could be a criminal matter.

"It's no different to throwing stones, I would argue.

"Throw them in the sea, no real problem.

"Throw them at a moving car, and it's a different result."

So if you are heading outside to enjoy the snow with your children, remember to play responsibly.
