Thieves try to blow up Sainsbury's cash machine in Acton

The Flying Squad is investigating after thieves tried to explode a cash point in Acton just 15 minutes before a similar raid occurred in Isleworth.

Thieves attempted to blow a cash machine from a wall in Acton in the early hours of Friday (November 14) morning – 15 minutes before the same thing happened in nearby Isleworth.

Police were called to Sainsbury's Local in Gunnersbury Lane at 2.43am following reports of a gas attack on the ATM. Two men were seeing getting into a silver car and driving off shortly after the explosion. Police said it was not yet possible to say if money was taken.

Around 15 minutes later at 3am a similar incident happened at the Co Op in Isleworth . Police said in this instance two men were seen breaking into the store before driving off in a silver car.

The Flying Squad is investigating both incidents.
