An upmarket jewellers in Chelsea has been robbed by a moped gang armed with sledgehammers.

Police were called to Boodles, on Basil Street at the junction with Sloane Street, at 10.37am on Wednesday (August 16) morning.

Scotland Yard say the suspects arrived on scooters, entered the store and used the hammers to smash through counter displays.

They then removed valuable items before returning to their bikes and making off.

On its website website, Boodles describes itself as "luxury" jeweller.

A spokesperson confirmed the robbery at the store, and said: "The police are handling the situation and Boodles is unable to comment any further."

Police say no-one was hurt and there have been no arrests.

An investigation has been launched.
