Transport for London (TfL) is proposing to make changes to a popular bus route between Ealing Broadway and Brent Cross Shopping Centre, used by over 2,000 people every day.
Consultation to change the service between the A406 Hanger Lane and Ealing Broadway station, next to Haven Green, was launched on Wednesday (October 12).
The changes would mean the 112 running via Madeley Road, not currently used as a bus route, and would see three new bus stops built there.
But it would mean the service would no longer run in Hanger Lane south of Madeley Road, Uxbridge Road, The Mall and The Broadway, with these roads continuing to be served by route 483.
TfL claim the change would result in reducing journey times by up to eight minutes during peak times, and improve reliability by avoiding a busy part of the route.
John Barry, TfL’s head of network development, said: "If implemented, these changes will significantly reduce journey times for 2,100 customers each day.
"If buses are to run down Madeley Road and new stops are installed to serve them, the service will also be more accessible to residents in that area."
The service would maintain its frequency of buses every 12 minutes during the day Monday to Saturday, every 15 minutes on Sundays and every 20 minutes in the evenings.
New bus stops in Madeley Road would be built:
- Towards Ealing Broadway, east of the junction with Westbury Road
- Towards Brent Cross Shopping Centre, east of the junction with Westbury Road
- Towards Brent Cross Shopping Centre, west of the junction with Hanger Lane
Depending on the result of the consultation, it is hoped the changes would come into affect from Spring 2017.
