Supermarket giant Tesco is recalling selected products because they don't state that they contain milk.

The Hearty Food Company Cottage Pie and Hearty Food Company Sausage and Mash ready meals are being recalled due to labelling errors.

Both products would pose a risk to anyone who is allergic to or has an intolerance of milk and its constituents.

The specific products being recalled are the 400g Hearty Food Company Cottage Pie, with use by dates 24 April 2018, 27 April 2018, 28 April 2018, 30 April 2018, 01 May 2018, 02 May 2018, 03 May 2018, 04 May 2018, 05 May 2018.

Also being recalled is the 400g Hearty Food Company Sausage and Mash, with use by dates 25 April 2018, 26 April 2018, 29 April 2018, 01 May 2018, 02 May 2018. According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), no other Tesco product is known to be affected by the error.

A statement on the FSA website reads "If you have bought the above products and have an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, do not eat them

"Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund."

Tesco has contacted the relevant allergy support organisations, and has removed the affected products from its shelves.

A point-of-sale notice will also go up in Tesco stores explaining the recall to customers and advising them what to do if they have bought the products.
