The Tesco delivery driver involved in a bus collision on Hammersmith Bridge is out of hospital and on the mend, the company has confirmed.

A blue "freshly clicked" branded van, which delivers groceries from online orders, was involved in a collision with a London bus on Tuesday (May 9) morning, during rush hour.

Emergency services attended the scene of the crash and took the delivery driver to hospital for his injuries.

A day after the crash, Tesco confirmed that the driver was on the mend.

A spokesperson for the supermarket said: "We are in contact with the driver, who is out of hospital and recovering."

The collision led to severe traffic delays in the area, with the Hammersmith gyratory at a complete standstill.

Drivers were advised to seek alternative routes as delays to bus services reached more than an hour, before the route was fully reopened by 10.50am.

Live video footage showed traffic backing up for miles around, with Transport for London confirming roads were affected as far away as Shepherd's Bush Empire.

The road was closed westbound at Great West Road and the Hammersmith Road southbound slow moving.
