A teenage boy who went missing in the capital following a meal out with his family has been found "safe and well".

Benjamin Moorcroft, 15, from Shrewsbury in Shropshire, was reported missing after he was last seen having a meal in Covent Garden, Westminster , at around 8pm on Saturday night (October 21).

He became separated from his family while they were visiting London.

On Monday morning (October 23), Metropolitan Police announced the boy had been found shortly before 7.30am in the Waterloo area.

The force said: "Our thanks to the media who have supported the appeal to locate Ben throughout the weekend, and particularly to the member of the public who spoke with Ben this morning and made the call to police."

The force added on Twitter: "Police appealing for help to find missing Ben Moorcroft, 15 have located him safe and well.

"Our thanks for everyone's help."
