Blues, reds and creams dominate the luxurious revamp at the British Airways First lounge at Heathrow Airport.

The makeover includes more than 220 new pieces of furniture ranging from high-backed chairs and relaxing sofas, to tables for the airline’s highest paying flyers at Terminal 5.

The exclusive area dedicated to premium travellers has been redesigned to add a splash of colour and a dash of sparkle for First and Gold Executive club members, including The Gold Bar which is covered in gold leaf and lit up by a Swarovski crystal chandelier.

Other parts of the refurb include plush new carpets, re-sanded, waxed and polished oak wood floors as well as more power outlets to charge phones, laptops and tablets.

Troy Warfield, BA’s director of customer experience, said: “Our First customers and Gold Executive Club members are used to the very best service and surroundings, both in the air and on the ground.

“The refurbishment of our First lounge at Terminal 5 will ensure they can continue to enjoy fine cuisine, outstanding wines and champagnes and relax in comfort before flying in style to destinations around the world.”

Since Terminal 5 opened in 2008, BA customers have visited the airline’s six individual lounges for Club and First customers which include the Concorde Room and the recently refurbished First lounge.

Flyers can also pamper themselves with treatments at the Elemis Spa, or indulge in some of the hot and cold food selection in the dining area.

Top end customers can help themselves from the bar, stocked with fine wines, champagne and spirits or head to the Champagne Bar for some exclusive bubbles.

The First lounge revamp took place over several nights while the lounge was empty.
