A £10 million Le Mans classic super car has been hit with £120 fine by traffic wardens in Kensington .

The 1970 Ferrari 512M, regarded as one of the most valuable and sought-after racing cars in the world, was issued with the £120 fine on April 25 (Monday) after a dealership parked it to take photos.

The 45-year-old racing machine, also known as Chassis 1002, is rarely on the market but was taken into stock by classic car dealership Fiskens, based in Queen’s Gate Place Mews.

They took the bright yellow Ferrari, powered by a five-litre engine, outside its headquarters to take photos, when traffic wardens from the borough to pounced at around midday.

It is not the first time authorities in Kensington and Chelsea have come down hard on supercars after the council warned inconsiderate users they would be fined for antisocial behaviour .

Rory Henderson, an acquisition specialist at the dealership, which specialises in iconic automobiles, told getwestlondon the car was there for about 30 minutes.

The fine represents only 0.0012% of the car's value, but that comes as little consolation to Mr Henderson.

He said: “We were out there taking photos of it and they came along and didn’t like it.

“We thought it was slightly unnecessary because we try to be super considerate to our neighbours. It was not in anyone’s way and was parked in a dead-end corner of the street.

“We explained what we were doing but they were not going to be persuaded. I don’t think we are going to appeal though. I guess we will have to pay it.”

The 1970 Ferrari 512M has been involved in 24 Hours of Le Mans races in 1971 and 1972 and in 1977 set a UK speed record of 192mph which still stands today.

The car dealership’s website describes the car as representing “a once in a lifetime opportunity to acquire a truly exceptional and seriously important ‘time capsule’ condition sports racing prototype”.

In August last year a Ferrari in Chelsea made the headlines when it crashed into a bridge and was badly damaged .

Anyone with £10m to spare who is interested in purchasing the car can contact the dealership on 020 7584 3503.
