A west London-based community radio station has fallen on hard times and gone into administration.

Grant Thorn LLP has been confirmed as the administrator for five companies owned by Dr Avtar Lit – Sunrise Radio, Kismat Radio, London Media Company, Time FM 107.5 and Tristar Broadcasting – all of which have been struggling financially in recent months.

However, Sunrise Radio 2, which is separate to the flagship station has not been included in the administration order.

Sunrise Radio has been a huge part of life in the area since it started broadcasting in 1989 and its headquarters off Merrick Road is a Southall landmark .

A spokesman for Grant Thornton said: “Following the companies’ formal insolvencies they are continuing to trade for a short period of time and remain on air whilst we explore potential sale options for the stations.”

He said the administrator was also still in talks with other parties over the issue of potential new owners for the station.

The Ealing Gazette has contacted Mr Lit for a comment but is yet to receive a response.
