Police have thanked residents for their cooperation when a street was evacuated after a "potentially suspicious device" was reported.

Fernbank Avenue in Sudbury Hill was closed off to the public on Saturday (November 11) night during the incident.

Brent Police say they were made aware of a potentially suspicious device at an address in Fernbank Avenue at 9.02pm.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman confirmed that officers attended and a number of residences were evacuated "as a precaution".

The spokesperson added: "Specialist officers attended.

"The item was found to be non hazardous.

"Cordons have now been lifted."
