'Such a callous and cruel thing to do': Cat taped up in box and dumped in Wembley alleyway

A cute tomcat was taped up in a box and dumped in an alleyway along with a thrown out suitcase in Wembley .

The ginger and white four-year-old 'Finbar' was found by a caring member of the public who then phoned the RSPCA.

He was discovered in the box down an alleyway in Farnborough Close in Wembley earlier this month at about 12.30pm.

Animal Collection Officer (ACO) Prisca Giddens rescued Finbar and brought him to the RSPCA Middlesex North West branch where he has been receiving some much needed TLC ever since.

Sarah Blackband, animal welfare officer for the branch, said: “Physically, Finbar was okay when he was brought to us but sadly he had been abandoned in such a horrible way.

“To seal a cat inside a box and dump him in an alleyway is such a callous and cruel thing to do.

“Finbar isn’t microchipped and an owner has not been found - the only clue we have is this suitcase with the name Bobby, London, Miami and Ibiza stitched onto it.

“Now this ginger moggy really does deserve his second chance at happiness after his ordeal."

The RSPCA are now hoping Finbar can be re-homed and given the care he deserves.

Sarah added: “He is a friendly boy but a little timid so would be looking for a home without young kids, with adults and teenagers.

"He must also be able to go outside and would prefer to be the only cat.”

The animal charity also urge those with unwanted pets to do the right thing if they can no longer care for them.

The animal welfare officer said: “We understand that people’s circumstances can change which may mean they are unable to look after their pets any longer but we would always urge pet owners to act responsibly and contact the RSPCA or other animal charities who can help.”
